Band and Chorus

As with everything in life, the costs of running and maintaining a Championship Section Brass Band have increased steadily over the years. We now have to raise in the order of £20,000 to £25,000 a year just to retain the status quo.

We raise money in a variety of ways: From individual sponsors who pay towards the running costs or support a particular concert, by performing concerts for other organisations, by arranging our own concert series, through prize money and by fund raising events, ranging from raffles and auctions to sponsored walks and treasure hunts.

As well as covering the general day to day running costs, the monies raised are used to support particular projects:

  1. Promotion of an annual concert series
  2. Renewal of instruments
  3. Renewal and upkeep of uniforms
  4. Purchase of new music
  5. Establishing and developing a beginners’ brass group

Press release: Conroy Brook renew sponsorship of Hepworth Band

July, 2016.

Conroy Brook is delighted to announce its continued sponsorship for 2016‐17 of one of the UK’s oldest brass bands—Hepworth. Formed in 1882, Hepworth Band is in the Championship section alongside the likes of Black Dyke, Brighouse & Rastrick and Grimethorpe Colliery, and is firmly established as one of the country‚Äôs top brass bands.

The band is widely regarded as one of the most consistent performers on the contesting circuit, regularly appearing at the British Open Contest, and has represented Yorkshire in the National Brass Band Championship finals held at the Albert Hall, London. The sponsorship comes as Conroy Brook celebrate their 20th anniversary, so plans are now under way to organise a special commemorative concert by the band at St Paul’s Hall in Huddersfield in early 2017.

Richard Conroy, CEO of the Conroy Brook Group, said: “We have a long standing connection with brass bands locally, and have known Hepworth Band and the excellent work they do for a long time prior to our initial sponsorship in 2013‐14.”

“We are delighted to renew our sponsorship of the band, and hope our contribution can help to ensure they can continue to share their fantastic music with as many people as possible.”

Operating Yorkshire-wide from its Holme Valley base, Conroy Brook specialises in providing craftsman-built family homes, retirement apartments and care homes. The company prides itself in providing superior design solutions, high quality workmanship and excellent standards of customer service, all of which have given it a reputation which is second to none in the building industry. This has also been acknowledged by the many prestigious national awards won for the quality of the company’s developments.

Opportunities for sponsorship

These are exciting times for the band and we can offer you an opportunity to be part of the success. As companies look for ways in which they can cost effectively promote themselves on a local and national basis, sponsorship of a brass band can provide a unique way to reach a wider audience, increasing exposure and awareness through a flexible package of opportunities to suit different needs and budgets.

Hepworth band was formed as a subscription band, with players, officials and villagers making donations towards the running costs. The band is looking to revive this idea and has launched the Hepworth band Subscription Scheme.
