It follows on from a rewarding Whit Friday with prizes at Denshaw, Diggle and Scouthead together with a number of soloist awards; a successful day at the Travellers Rest, Meltham March Contest taking 1st prize with awards for the best basses and euphonium: an enjoyable afternoon at Hebden Bridge March & Hymn Tune Contest, with awards for best basses, taking 1st place overall; and a sunny Sunday at Morley March and Hymn Tune Contest, with prizes for the best instrumentalist, best cornet section, best hymn, best contest march and 1st Overall.

Music Director Ryan Watkins said "We're delighted to have won all four of the local summer march contests this year. The band worked incredibly hard to keep 'The Wizard' tight and polished, and we never take any of these results for granted!"

The prize monies earned will also be a great help as we launch our fundraising campaigns for two major capital projects this summer, the refurbishment of the bandroom ground floor studio space and the renewal of the bands percussion instruments.

A big thank you to everyone who came along to listen and support the band and to all the contest organisers and helpers who work so hard to make these events such a success.
